We happily share the news that Central Europe Dance Theatre (CEDT) is looking for participatants for DCL – Dance Communication Lab in Budapest from Beyond Front@ partner countries: Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, Romania and Sweden.

Beyond Front@: Bridging Periphery is a Creative Europe project (2023-2026) created by Central Europe Dance Theatre – CEDT (Hungary), Bunker (Slovenia), Hrvatski institut za pokret i ples – HIPP (Croatia), Krakow Dance Theatre – Krakowski Teatr Tańca (Poland), M Studio (Romania) and Vitlycke – CPA (Sweden) to foster local development of the contemporary dance fields.

What is a DCL in general? DCL – Dance communication Lab is a short-term exchange formula between dancers, where the main aim is that 6 professional dancers coming from the abovementioned partner countries get to know each other through improvisation, which is the most distinctive process of creation in contemporary dance. The 2 day long research project will take place under the mentorship of Sándor Petrovics.

Sándor Petrovics was born in 1987 in Budapest, Hungary. In 2012 he acquired his diploma as a contemporary dancer at BCDA. Moving to Israel proved to be a pivotal point in his life. In Tel Aviv, he worked at Vertigo Dance Company, and parallel to that he was certified as an Ilan Lev Method practitioner. In 2019 he left Israel for the German Tanzmainz Company where Sharon Eyal’s work made the biggest impact on him. In this period, he also drew closer to the gaga language. In 2021, upon returning to Hungary he started to share his experiences in the form of teaching and ILM treatments. Recently, he is also a freelance dancer.

“I believe that reality is layered and is made of patterns that pervade the visible and the invisible world. Out of these patterns the most fundamental is movement. This is the source, the way and the purpose of existence. Life itself. Body is our common heritage, which presents us with experiencing, connecting and growing.”
