A Contemporary Resilience: Reinventing Dance in Ukraine (dancEUA) a cultural cooperation project co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union from 2024 to 2027. Its aim is to strengthen the Ukrainian contemporary dance sector and to deepen long-term professional relations between Ukrainian and European artists. The project responds to the challenges facing Ukrainian dance artists by providing a platform for artistic exchange, professional development and enhancing cultural resilience through cross-border partnerships.
The Croatian Studio Contemporary Dance Company and the Central Europe Dance Theatre (Hungary), the M Studio (Romania), the Vitlycke Centre for Performing Arts (Sweden) and the UA Contemporary Dance Platform (Ukraine) in cooperation with dancEUA brings together leading cultural organisations committed to the development of contemporary dance. The project's activities are very diverse, including artistic residencies, professional training, international performances, networking initiatives and policy engagement - all in support of dancers and the wider cultural sector.
Through these activities, the project will provide opportunities for choreographers, dancers and cultural professionals to work together, create new works and connect with national and international audiences. By integrating digital strategies, knowledge-sharing platforms and public events, the dancEUA ensure wide visibility of the achievements, increasing the sustainability and recognition of Ukrainian contemporary dance within the European performing arts community.
