In order to achieve success, distinction and socially recognised merit, certain behaviours, dress styles and modes of expression are quickly becoming attractive, and the virtual world is increasingly becoming the space for their expression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Publicising what happens to us has become a social imperative, with perhaps the biggest pitfall being the various ways of correcting reality. Perfectly adjusted lights, great overall effect, immaculate surroundings, set positions, and an enviable, always uniform and balanced state of mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is a widening gap between this fictional, sterile world and reality, where it is a fact that people are not flawless, and their lives are a succession of ups and downs. To deny this natural amplitude is fundamentally at odds with the dynamics of human existence in the real world, and therefore requires an increasing effort to hide it in the virtual space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our protagonist oscillates between a fictitious virtual world of his own creation and the unadorned reality, and over time the fake profile seems to take over his life, and his identification with it raises the question of how he can preserve the sovereignty of his true self, his personality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his relentless pursuit of perfection, he finds himself watching his online avatar take on a life of its own, over which he no longer has control. The dullness and imperfection of reality becomes more and more burdensome for him, the contrast generates more and more inner conflict within himself, which makes a confrontation with reality inevitable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
